My dad used to do some fruit and veg carvings. He made cool mice out of radishes. So when ever I see fruit and veg
carvings I think of my pops.
Click on the link to learn the mathematical equation on why girls are evil. The boys in youth group would like this equation. They are always saying girls are evil. I don’t agree because I got the best wife!
Today is the the 15th anniversary of the signing of the peace accords in El Salvador. Sadly, not much has improved. When I was there in 2005 many people told us that they are worse off than before the war began. One sugar cane harvester told us he gets paid less now harvesting sugar cane by hand than he did 10 years ago doing the same amount of work. The people are poorer and hungrier than they were a few years back. One social worker told me that the country will not survive much longer in these conditions. She told us (paraphrase), “It is a tragedy that our country does not belong to us any more. North Americans have a greater voice than Salvadorians over what happens in El Salvador.”
I for one have not heeded that word. I have not advocated enough for my own people. In DC it was a little easier b/c there were more Salvadorians and I had connections there. Being in Canada I have been out of the loop. So if anyone had ties to the Salvadorian community here in Vancouver I would love to get more invovled.
Here are some words from Juan Jose Dalton (son of assassinated poet Roque Dalton):
El Salvador on Tuesday will commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the end of a bloody civil war that left 75,000 people dead, yet spiralling crime has left the country still struggling to recover.
