Have you ever wanted to search for a specific term in a podcast? Pluggd is a new search engine that is working on speech-to-text technology to catalouge podcasts and other spoken media.  You gotta check out thier demo.  I just looked at their homepage and I was not too impressed.  Then I did the demo and I think it is an impressive tool.

If you go to his website you can check his art.  My favorite is his Cuban Tourism Drawing.

They have a lot of good suggestions on how to know if the website you are buying from is secure and what to look for when ordering.  They also suggest getting a single use credit card.  I never knew there was such a thing.  So for those who are still shopping online check them out.

Over the Christmas break I started to read two different books. The first was Running with Scissors by Augusten Burrows. I do not like this book at all. It has humorous moments of childhood wonder, but overall it has this dark oppressive feel to it. It makes me so angry that his legal guardian, ahis mother’s psychatrist, does nothing to make his home a safe place for children. I am halfway through the book and debating whether or not to continue reading it.
The second book is called Subversive Orthodoxy: Outlaws, Revolutionaries, and Other Christians in Disguise by Robert Inchausti. This book is like a thick stew you need to eat slowly and savour each taste. After I read a page I sit back and think, “This is good.” Inchausti looks at authors, thinkers, artists, leaders who were rejected by both the Church and their contemporary culture. Either they were too “heretical” for the church or too “Christian” for the culture. However, Inchausti shows how their voice served as a prophetic voice to the church and the culture. What I like best about the book is that it gives you big picture to understand particular stories or writings of these influential people.
