Today I turned in my biggest project of the semester. For hermeneutics class we were required to evaluate the Chicago Statement on Hermeneutics. I was surprised at how contreversial it is to critique the statement because we are not in the American context. It seems that in America to criticize the statement is like criticizing the Nicean Creed! Outside of the US it seems like the Chicago statement doesn’t carry much weight in the evangelical circles. It was a good exercise and it helped me to integrate all that we learned in our hermeneutics class. I didn’t have a good grasp of all the interpreative approaches, but at least this class got me to think about the different approaches. It was a great relief to get this class done. It was so much work!!! Now I got a few more things to go. It shouldn’t be too bad.
